I understand that for all of us our year-end celebrations may look a little different this year. Although we may be apart, there are still many ways for us to celebrate together. Here you will find our list of some favorite alternative ideas for a socially-distanced Halloween. I wish you a safe and spook-tacular Halloween!
Virtual Halloween Costume Parade! – Get all your friends to join in and get onto Zoom or post some photos of your child’s Halloween costume for friends and family to see.
Halloween Treat Hunt – Have your little one(s) search and look around the house for hidden Halloween treats.
Drive-by Halloween Hunt – Have some family and friends drive by and gently toss candy at your costumed children in your front yard.
Drop off treat bags on front porches in your neighborhood and friend’s houses. This may take time, so plan ahead to gather your treats and schedule when to drop them off.
Make a no-contact candy hedge! – Use a backdrop frame as your base, cover it with a cloth and add garlands on top. Use clothespins and clip some candy onto your hedge.
Use long handled tongs or a grabber for contactless participation in the spirit of candy giving. Decorate the tongs to go with your fun spooky costume.
Have a Virtual Halloween Party online with friends and family! Here are a few party themes to do:
Pumpkin Decorating – Use acrylic paints, brushes and sponges to paint fun spooky faces on the pumpkins. Set up the camera to get the view of everyone painting at the table, and at the end see everyone’s pumpkins.
Halloween Cookie Decorating – How many spooky cookies can you and the family make? Bring out the frosting and sprinkles! Afterward, gift wrap them and drop them off at your friends and family’s homes.
Costume Dance Party – Who has the best costumes? Who had the best dance moves? Schedule a virtual hour or two with friends and family to show off costumes and dance moves.
Halloween-Themed Charades – A witch?! A ghost?! Frankenstein?! A vampire?! What spooky character will you act out?
