OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AIDE (OT AIDE)

Play2Grow Pediatric Therapy specializes in providing pediatric occupational therapy services to children of all ages. Occupational therapists (OTR/L) and certified occupational therapy assistants (COTA) help pediatric clients and their families by identifying delays or challenges that are affecting a child’s overall development and inhibiting participation in everyday childhood activities. At Play2Grow Pediatric Therapy, therapeutic services are uniquely tailored for the child and designed to support parent, family, and caregiver participation. POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The occupational therapy aide (OT Aide) will provide supportive services to an occupational therapist (OTR/L) and/or certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA). The OT Aide who is trained by an occupational therapist and/or certified occupational therapy assistant to perform, under appropriate supervision, delegated, selected client and non-client related tasks for which the aide has demonstrated competency. The occupational therapist shall be responsible for the overall use and actions of the aide. 

 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS 

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalency diploma  

Availability: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 

  Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  

Hours: Part-Time, 25 hours or less per week

  • Initiates communication and seeks guidance from supervior(s) when necessary 
  • Sets job priorities in conjunction with OTR/L and/or COTA 
  • Demonstrates flexibility in coping with changes in routine scheduling 
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse views and opinions; open to individual and cultural differences; respects dignity, values, and beliefs of each individual

  • Adheres to and protects company policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws/requirements 


JOB DUTIES 

 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

  • Prepares occupational therapy treatment areas and treatment rooms prior to client sessions 
  • Cleans occupational therapy treatment areas and treatment rooms at end of client sessions 
  • Cleans and sterilizes therapy toys, therapy equipment, and clinic environment following company policies and procedures, standard universal precautions, and all federal, state, and local laws/regulations 
  • Maintains safety of the clinic environment ensuring access to non-treatment areas by clients and their family members, and non-company staff is not permitted; pathways and doorways remain clear; therapy equipment inspection/maintenance, etc. and notify company director immediately of any safety risks 
  • Assists in client safety by anticipating, redirecting, assisting, and/or acting when needed 
  • Maintains occupational therapy supply inventory by tracking current stock, anticipating supply needs, submitting supply orders, and verifying receipt of supplies 
  • Performance of clerical tasks such as maintaining copies, scanning documents, assembling assessment packets and new client files, preparing client “graduation” packages, faxing (sending and receipts), and assisting in creation of therapist projects for clients (i.e. in-home program packets, special crafts, etc.) 
  • Assist therapists with organization and maintenance of sign-in binders in preparation for weekly/monthly billing  
  • Assist therapist with video/audio recording of sessions where applicable and with prior authorization from company director  
  • Assist therapists in implementation of group or specialized client programs 
  • Assist company director in maintaining company contacts, documents, records, media content, and online platforms with prior authorization while only maintaining access to information that is relative to perform requested job functions 
  • Assist company director in client, therapist, and program scheduling  
  • Assist company director with Play2Grow Pediatric Therapy’s volunteer and student programs  
  • Physical agility to lift up to 30 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; sit at a desk, low table, on a low chair or stool, on the floor or on mats; ability to squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, push or pull therapy equipment; carry therapy bags/equipment in/out of clinic
